This is a photo of me with Bou Meng a survivor of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia.  He was one of only seven known people to have survived in a prison called Tuol Sleng in Phnom Penh.  There was estimated to have been 17,000 people imprisoned there.  He survived because he was a painter and he was asked to paint pictures of Pol Pot although he was tortured and his wife was killed in the same prison.
